Don't forget that China is still classed as a third world country. Correct. Once away from the big cities, most Chinese live the same standard as Vietnam or Laos.

Resources: The PRC just doesn't have them. A war with Taiwan (or anyone else) would cut them off from everyone except Russia. And who knows if Poutine will still be in charge at that time. Nearby Russia, eg. Vladivostock, is seen as China's quarry. Russia knows this. Lots of Chinese moving into regional towns, slowly... If they decide to help themselves more than just poaching logging resources, it might wreck the alliance.
Interestingly, most of the CCP's ridiculous territorial claims are based on Tang dynasty ownership. Vladivostok and much of the Russian Far East falls into the is basket. If Russia completely fell apart and the CCP had several successful invasions under its belt, I wonder if they'd move on it.

Well, as of today we've just lost Somoa to the CCP like we lost the Solomons This should not come as a surprise. There are 13 countries that recognise Taiwan. 4 of them are small pacific nations. The kind of country that the CCP loves buying and bribing their way into influence in. The CCP will be looking to isolate any that still support Taiwan. At a guess, Tuvalu or Nauru will be the next to fall. Palau and the Marshall Islands are probably too closely tied to the US to switch sides just yet.

It looks like these guys are going to form their own alliance some kind of mutual pact.

Well naturally, part of the agreements that china is offering is the condition that they MUST public ally and politically agree that taiwan is part of china and not its own nation.

I wonder if China has ever bugged Govt offices in Pacific Island nations to get an unfair advantage in trade negotiations?
No wonder they don't trust us.

As evil as the CCP is, it's the Victorian government that has done the most damage to my family.

The CCP gets caught spying all the time. But nobody ever really punished them for it until Trump, so they keep doing it. No doubt they've ramped it up again since then.
