I see China has banned the import of cattle from Aust because of "foot and mouth" but I'm more thinking it was right after the gov announced the completion of a defence super computer to design weapons and drones/aircraft etc to use against the china rising issue

The PRC is really shooting themselves in the foot with this stuff. When a country repeatedly uses sanctions as some kind of tantrum that isn't supported by anyone else, their trading partners get nervous. Most foreigners have left the PRC and western companies are far less likely to set up factories there now. The PRC is a very risky trade partner. Australia won't learn this lesson any way except the hard way it seems.

War drums are beating.... China expert Gordon Chang makes the case that China is preparing for armed conflict – and could happen quite soon.www.19fortyfive.com/2022/08/china-is-preparing-to-go-to-war/Last month, a Chinese entrepreneur making medical equipment for consumers told me that local officials had demanded he convert his production lines in China so that they could turn out items for the military. Communist Party cadres, he said, were issuing similar orders to other manufacturers. Moreover, Chinese academics privately say the ongoing expulsion of foreign colleagues from China’s universities appears to be a preparation for hostilities. The People’s Republic of China is preparing to go to war, and it is not trying to hide its efforts. Amendments to the National Defense Law, effective the first day of last year, transfer powers from civilian to military officials. In general, the amendments reduce the role of the central government’s State Council by shifting power to the CMC, the Communist Party’s Central Military Commission. Specifically, the State Council will no longer supervise the mobilization of the People’s Liberation Army.

The ADF are preparing for war with China. There's a lot happening with procurement, upgrading bases, developing in house manufacturing that goes unnoticed.

Australian grubbyment making noises about buying B21 long range stealth bombers and additional f-35 fighters. With nuclear subs and long range missiles already on the purchase list, and in-house development of our own hypersonic missiles, it seems clear we are tooling up for war with China.
Within 10 years, my sources tell me.
What are YOU doing to mitigate any personal consequences of war with China?

Apparently those B21 are $500 mill each. ABargain considering the B1’s were $2 billion each.
A suitable nuclear deterrent is all we need. We can become the western equivalent to North Korea and be a pain in the arse to Chinese ambition.

With labor controlling the defence budget though, They are already talking about scrapping the buying of the blackhawks and keeping the parked up eurotigers going

Look familiar? Chinese H20 stealth bomber courtesy of chinese 5th column spies and turncoat multinationals who gave away their IP for profits. Irony doesn’t touch the surface of trying to explain this emerging conflict.

Just been in to make final arrangements for Dads funeral tomorrow. Funeral director has just come from 2 weeks in Darwin said he saw heaps of tanks going past on semi's and D of D going gangbusters building a new accommodation village.

My daughter was just in Darwin and said the same thing. She said the sky was full of military aircraft (Op Pitch Black?) and she was pretty rapt to get fairly close to a v22 Osprey. So long as she never gets a ride on one of those death traps. She knocked back a ride on a chopper. Said unless she's in the pilot seat or doorgunner she's over helos. There's plenty going on, I personally don't think Albo will restrict the build up.

Irony doesn’t touch the surface of trying to explain this emerging conflict. It's the same old story. Rich men profit whilst young men die. The PRC's inventory has many examples of direct copies of western weapons systems. Yet our nations still allow PRC citizens to work on research projects here. There's no concern at all about the information that we paid to develop, heading straight to Beijing for free.
