I wonder if Chinas war machine is as badly constructed as its infrastructure with the 'tofu" culture of looking good on the outside and then after a few uses it falls apart. Witness the U tube vids re tofu concrete and the failures of buildings. Add to that the Chinese junk electronics gear and the military may fall apart after a few days. I worked in Mongolia for a year, Chinese construction concrete is useless. Tried to seal a borehole then drill through it the concrete never dried, Had to import concrete from Australia. Mongolia been landlocked had to go through Russia or China.

All the financial pundits panicking over China, record selling of US bonds. The world is running out of US dollars, money liquidity is raising many red flags.

If they cant get something as simple and basic as concrete worked out, hell, u can make it yourself at home, then what hope have they got to concur the world, or even Taiwan ?
The reigning work ethic is to take the money now, forget the future. A friend has a oriental wife, and she is into making as much money as possible, through real estate or whatever. Build a house as cheap as possible, then flog it for as much as possible, even using 2nd hand materials and calling it new. no ethics at all.
The latest rip off from China was some 18650 size lithium battery's labelled as having a 20,000 milliamp hour rating ! Tested they went to 1,800 MAh. They are subject to the physical limitations of this world just like the rest of us.
Does anyone else see videos of China, or any other inner city for that matter, and think how those in it are going to fare WTSHTF ?
Committees keep minutes and lose hours.

The Chinese just like the Indians have this insane preoccupation with accumulating cash beyond anything else! These days it's no coincidence the banks and other corporates are full of them in accounting and financial services roles etc! It's an illness whatever it takes to get the cash like what is it with their obsession?

Just as we saw when covid first hit, the government will just weld the doors shut in their buildings and let them starve. Does anyone else see videos of China, or any other inner city for that matter, and think how those in it are going to fare WTSHTF ?

Those solar powerbanks come to mind. I bought one, tested it, took it back and got a refund. Actual mAh was around 20% of the nameplate value. That's not bad manufacturing, it's fraud. With the concrete, China will often use beach sand instead of river sand. Beach sand has a very different shape to river sand and does not bind properly -> stuff falls down in China all the time. Bridges, buildings etc.

It's an illness whatever it takes to get the cash like what is it with their obsession? Given how corrupt the banks are over there, who can blame them. The CCP has a bad reputation for blocking withdrawls of anyone who criticises them. The thing is, cash is barely used at all in cities. I had trouble using it over there as it's all 'pay with your phone'. As MWT asked, the cities over there will be awful. The CCP will never admit failure and will start shooting people again. For all the drawbacks, in China you are better off in a regional town that can at least feed itself and doesn't have poison air.

The power bank issue is easily solved, make your own from reputable equipment from the likes of Jaycar and Bunnings.
Battery's are available and u gets what u pay for. Firms like RS components stand behind their products. Do it right and it will last for many years.
For instance, I found a Jaycar portable power station at the tip, dead. Replaced the battery, and cleaned out the junk from inside it. I now have a better product than I could buy, with a 400 watt 240 v inverter, 300 amp jump starter, usb power bank, led lighting and 2 car type lighter outlets, all in a reasonably small (14 inches by 12 X 12 inch) box. Its a bit heavy at 8 kg, but that's 'cause I used a big lead acid battery of substantial capacity, 25 amp hours.
I have several other units I've either rebuilt or built from scratch over the years, and they are still operational.
Constant change is here to stay.

Bought the powertech jumpstater. It is an emergency torch, can jumpstart your car and has USB charging for your phone. I ran a small fan off it for 20hrs and it still had charge left. Cost about $200 from memory. Good bit of kit. Only drawback is that it requires 12V or 240V to charge it, so a USB my 5V portable solar panel won't work with it. Still well worth it though.

Jaycar tend to have very good staff. They generally don't sell trash and the staff will usually steer you clear of anything with a bad reputation. I've never had to return anything I bought there, and I am quite pedantic about returning poor quality goods rather than putting up with the bad manufacturing that seems to be endemic these days.

The simple solution to that is to get a fold out solar panel. The input on the unit can take up to 24 volts dc in, so a open circuit voltage of a solar panel at 18 v is perfect, and it will charge at a reasonable 5 amps max, so 5 hrs to full charge in full sun, not to bad.
I prefer Jaycar to Altronics, they just seem to have better quality gear. I read once somewhere that Jaycar have staff scour the planet for gear, then visit the factories to check the quality and sometimes have mods done especially for them.
A lot of the faults in electronic gear that is thrown away is dry soldered joints. The Chinese especially seem to resist using enough solder to properly 'wet' the joint and the result is it fails after a few heat and cold cycles from thermal failure. Resoldering all the connections quite often restores the item to full working condition. Soldering is one skill you must learn to do for after the collapse.
Courage atrophies due to lack of use.

To be clear though, China itself will not 'collapse'. The CCP has too much control and is happy to kill as many of its citizens as it takes to stay in power. The economy, yeah it's in for a long downward path though and Australia will suffer from this. And to be honest, those who have profitted by sending our industries and our rocks to a murderous dictatorship deserve every financial hit coming their way. It's the rest of us that get dragged down with it that is the issue.

Not gonna click on news.com.au clickbait titles, but China has territorial disputes with so many neighbours, nothing is really surprising. For countries near China, it's like having a wealthy, roid-raging, meth addict next door who keeps trying to put up a fence halfway into your yard and threatening you if you object.

They've been salami-slicing into Indian space for quite a while now, I've actually been a bit surprised by the amount of restraint shown on both sides given there's regular skirmishes between ground troops at the border. But China as always doesn't stop. They let each side get a bit of a bloodied nose but still inch forward.

The tactic works for them. Every single government should analyse what they did to the Phillipines.
1) Dispute sovreignty with Phillipines. 2) Manufacture skirmishes. 3) Independant party brokers arrangement for both to withdraw. 4) Phillipines withdraws, China doesn't. 5) China starts building islands on top of the reefs, stating 'peaceful purposes only' with no military involvement. 6) Harrass all non-chinese shipping, then bring in the military.
