The Danish bloke who runs the Survival Russia YouTube channel has been showing how sanctions are affecting Russia.
Admittedly his view is from a small regional town far from Moscow which may be completely different from the populated city centres but it certainly suggests that there is little or no impact yet.
Not surprising. Russian towns have been third world for a long time. Not sure what will change there. The sanctions are targetted at Putin's wealthy supporter base.
The store did not look 'third world'. It was largish and well stocked, and fuel was almost the same or had gone down slightly (a few ruble)

That was early day when sanctions were first started. Now SWIFT banking system and many corporations have pulled out of Russia repots are beginning to emerge of runaway inflation lack of goods etc..
Consumer prices rose 2.09% in the seven days ending March. 11, down from 2.22% a week earlier, the Federal Statistics Service said Wednesday. Annual inflation accelerated to 12.54% as of March 11 from 10.42% a week earlier, according to the Economy Ministry. Russia may be headed for “Soviet-like inflation” that manifests itself not in higher costs but through a deficit of goods, according to Alexander Abramov, a specialist on financial markets at RANEPA, a state-run university in Moscow. “The main risk now is the emergence of a shortage of basic imported everyday goods, as well as durable goods,” he said. “Many are no longer available in stores, and prices in online stores have risen sharply.”

You often see 'first world' shops in poor countries. It's not unusual.
A youtube video from inside an Aussie supermarket during the pandemic or recent weather events would look third world. Especially if it included some of our finest punching on over toilet paper.

The Australian conscripts who fought in Vietnam were world class.
The Israeli conscripts who fought in the Yom Kippur war were also world class.
The Rhodesians were the best followed by the South Africans! With their backs against the wall they went firken ballistic!
Ahem ... Cough ... cough ... Wehmacht.
Overwhelmingly a conscript force. Without peer in defensive actions even when undersupplied, underequipped, outnumbered 20 to 1 ... and ... put under a senior command of morons. They held together and only withdrew, in fair order, when a position had no defensive value left.
Why? Because cowards rarely survived long (own side killed them) and the Vengeful Soviets attacking them didn't usually take prisoners. The remaining choice was fight to the death and try to make it far enough back west to be able to surrender to US, Brits and Canadians. The latter plan was a dud as it turned out ... German forces who fought in Russia were handed back to the Soviets to die in prison camps in vast multitudes. They Should have been de-mobbed and kept in the west to counter the rapidly evolving threat of Soviet Union invading the remainder of Western Europe as early as 1949.
Russian army does not seem to have an apatite for war, are taking heavy losses. Weapons pouring into Ukraine and US and EU intelligent support is too much for the Russians.
Nightly News last night Biden is sending $800,000,000. worth of aid including military weapons there. $200,000,000 the week before. Looks like the American taxpayers are bankrolling this war and Biden's approval rating is pretty low.

Love many, trust few. Always paddle your own canoe.
The three things that only ever propped this country up was Cheap Food, Cheap Fuel and Cheap Housing! Now they are gone this place has turned into a bit of a shithole!
Practical is Tactical!

Yes I've got to agree with that! My comment was specifically based on more contemporary comparisons!

Russian supermarkets in recent years looked like our local IGA, mostly. Well-stocked, plenty of variety, eg. dozens of different kinds of meats/cheeses and packaged cereals.
Interestingly, a lot of consumer goods, such as torches/toys, would have the usual multiple-languages on the package. This implies that the Russian market was only a small part of the market for that manufacturer, alongside Phillipino, English, German, French, etc. language markets. This is a very real demonstration of how small Russia's economy (like Oz) is in the grand scheme of things. And a lot of it was Chinese made crap, eg. the handy tool you'd buy (or laugh at) from SupaCheap.
Meanwhile, a lot of shops there now have little/no sugar, for example. And a lot of Russians still believe that Putin s protecting them from the West, as they now have little other narrative than state media.
PS: Inside gossip: the reporter who disrupted a broadcast? News says she was held for 14 hours, then fined $390.
Little birds tell me she is not able to be found, even by her legal advocates. Do the maths.

How long until rising civilian casualties in Ukraine offend western sensitivities enough for the West to supply Ukraine with long range missiles to hit military targets inside Russia?
What a great opportunity for NATO to further degrade Russian military capability without actually going to war.
$70M divided by about 25M Aussies is about $3 each. How much bread of petrol will it buy you?
Standing up to Vlad: How much cojones do we appear to have if China watches?
$3 is cheap to me.
And 70 mil to Ukraine instead of in the public purse is gonna show china we have cojones?, i dont think so. Having nuclear capable subs already built now would show them, not in 2040.
Or cruise missiles that can cut off their oil supply from the Middle East should do the job...which we now have.
How many cruise missiles can 70 mil buy?
To add, anytime the msm are stoking the flames of war im hesitant to step in and be in favor of it. I believe there is more to this Ukraine/Russia conflict than what we are being told and i do not believe everything i see and read in the news.
Yip it is feed the Ukrainians arms and get them to degrade Russia much cheaper than the west doing it.
Neighbouring countries that Russia has been intimidating for years are now seeing that Russia is actually quiet weak. It is a major headache for Putin, to him appearance of strength is everything.
The US debacle in the pull out of Afghanistan showed the world how weak the US is. So Putin thought going into Ukraine would not get a big response. He was right but his military generals have failed him with poorly trained solders, bad leadership, pathetic intel that Ukrainians would just hand over the country to Russia and were influenced by the US>
Russian delayed taking of Ukraine has big impact on China and is messing their schedule.
Taiwan's top diplomat said he couldn't speak on the authenticity of a purported Russian intelligence document that claimed Chinese President Xi Jinping had plans to annex the island nation this fall.
Joseph Wu, Taiwan's minister of foreign affairs, said on Wednesday that his country would have to prepare regardless. "No matter if or when China decides to attack us, we must always be ready to defend ourselves," he told reporters in Taipei.
During a defense committee hearing in the island's legislature, Wu told lawmakers that he was aware of media reports about the document said to be written by an anonymous analyst with Russia's Federal Security Service calling themself "Wind of Change." The foreign minister said he wasn't able to verify the alleged FSB document, but said Taiwan's own intelligence services were closely monitoring relevant chatter.
