Perhaps, but the panic factor with the general public cant be ruled out. I think that by the time we can get to the shops (its a 120 km + trip), so we treat every trip to town as a last one. Have all fuels drums full, except for a few we are using, but these are of no consequence as its only a few dozen liters anyway.
The list is by the back door of last minute supplies needed.
It also depends on how the mainstream media cover it. If they sensationalize it, all hell may break lose down here, if its given the low key approach, maybe we will have time for last minute preps.
The general public only look at mainstream media anyway, that's why alternative media is so important to us preppers.
Yes Sir, all the pigs are primed and ready to fly !

Crimea is a long way from eastern Australia. No reason to bug out if those northern hemisphere idiots want to destroy themselves. Besides, watching Europe burn would make better tv than the latte sipper wars on The Block. Btw, Crimea is no more Russian than it is Ukrainian. Crimeans were more aligned with Turkey until they got ethnic cleansed by Russia. When shit goes Nuclear in the Northern Hemisphere and the chain of events that follow including the trickle down effect for Oz should give ample time for last minute preps! Luckily most individuals here are geared up if not materially then at least in their heads anyway. It'll be your head start on the sheeple and their mother of all tp shopping sprees! I'll be doing fuel first spread over a couple of days to a week regardless of the per litre cost and then miscellaneous food items after that. I'll also max out all scripts for meds that I have at the same time. Number 1 mission for both of us would probably be convincing our kids to relocate to the BOL (your youngest especially). That would be a major force multiplier for you, not because your youngest is there, but because I reckon Mrs Norseman would become a major league throat slitter to protect the grandies.

In political terms, Ukraine is a test of the West: do we have the cojones to stand up to Vlad with/without the nuke threat? If not, then why would we do so for equally strategic places like Taiwan and Oz? Especially if the humanitarian cost (deaths) is less.
Ukraine's population is about 40 Mil. Oz and Taiwan are about 25 Mil
Taiwan and Oz are similar: if China thinks they can get away with it, they'll have a crack. Those island bases aren't for the party's elite just to enjoy a nice fishing trip.
Not bugging out atm, but FFS stock up on meds and fuel (and solar, tools, seeds...)

I'd stock up on meds but my prescription has a refill date. Maybe I should doctor shop.

You can buy via a private script for most (uncontrolled) meds, eg. your blood pressure meds, viagra...

I'll admit that my stress levels are going up a bit. We're only a couple of months off moving to the new place, which means using up the long term pantry because it's 50/50 on whether or not the removal company will move the stuff that's in it. We're emptying the chest freezer before the move, and clearing out our regular pantry too. It's... uncomfortable... to know that we don't have the stock that we usually have on hand because we're actively using it up. That being said, other large items that are more costly and require more effort are being delivered to relatives close by are being purchased now so that we have them ready to go.
But it's definitely difficult on the psyche to know that we're going to have to restock again when we get there. I'm hoping that if things DO kick off, we'll have at least a month or so before the real problems trickle down through the normal places we buy from.

We went through the same feelings nearly 20 years ago when we were transferring to our BOL. Now, 20 years later, things are a lot worse and I can understand your unease. Have a plan B and C in mind if it all goes legs up whilst moving. At least have a place to stay, water, basic power and comms and some gardens ready at your BOL before u move so all u need to do is get there.
Have you ever noticed that all the instruments searching for intelligent life are pointed away from the Earth?

What an excellent idea. Maybe I should organise something similar at my retreat if we go to war with China. The hot blonde chics get directions to my place, everyone else gets directions to Norseman's place.

Stealth, when we were moving, the same thoughts re collapse were in our minds. Below is a summary of how we went about it.
We moved to a vacant possession farm and small house with a shed. Before we relocated the nearly 1,000 km north, we had already put in a new DA for a second house, sheds etc and it was approved by the council.
We got a removalist to do the furniture, bedding, crockery etc, in fact, almost the whole house.
We had converted a school bus into a mobile home, with 2.5 kw solar, toilet, shower, washing machine etc all fitted out to be self contained. Then we took 2 days to drive to the new farm and had the bus to live in whilst we built the second house. (The original house is for my Mother in Law).
The rest of the farm, machinery, preps, my electronics workshop and so on, was fitted into a 20 foot shipping container in the order it would be needed to be unpacked when it was delivered. In fact, some electronics spares are still in the container, nearly 20 years later ! This also gave the container for use as a shed on the farm. (And being all metal, should be reasonably EMP proof).
The only hiccup was that the truck they sent to transport the container couldn't pick it up as it was so heavy ! So a bigger one was dispatched.
Hope that helps.
Work out your spirit. Revive your spirit. Put a fire in it that no one can affect. You've got to develop self love that is independent from the world. Get rid of the excuses. Get after life. This is all you get, then you turn back into dust.

They'd have to be damn quick considering the time between the pressing of the red button and the detonation would be mere minutes.

Not sure of the exact pronunciation, but it rhymes with "place the explosives a little closer this time."

Looks like the bridge is being paid for. I mean we knew it was coming. 'KYIV, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Several explosions rocked the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and the cities of Lviv, Ternopil and Dnipro on Monday, after Russia accused Ukraine of orchestrating a powerful blast that damaged a key bridge linking Russia and Crimea. Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne quoted emergency services as saying there were dead and wounded in Kyiv but gave no further details of casualties. "Several explosions in the Shevchenskivskyi district - in the centre of the capital," Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko Klitschko said on the Telegram messaging app. "Details later." Reuters witness saw a huge carter at one of the city centre's intersections and nearby cars completely wrecked, blackened and pitted with shrapnel. Explosions were also reported in Lviv, Ternopil and Zhytomyr in Ukraine's west, and in Dnipro in central Ukraine. Russia abandoned an early advance on Kyiv in the face of fierce resistance bolstered by Western arms. Since then Moscow and its proxies have focused on the south and Donbas, an eastern territory made up of Luhansk and its neighbour Donetsk, deploying overwhelming artillery in some of the heaviest ground fighting in Europe since World War Two."

That's a good vid.
Russia pounding the German embassy in Kyiv through the week has upped the German resolve as well...sending air defence systems to Ukraine pretty much immediately...
