Tungsten is used by most countries that use discarding sabot armor piercing rounds. Apart from the US & UK that use Depleted Uranium, the other NATO countries will need heaps of it if they go popping Russian tanks.

It's a 'must have' element for building tanks. Because of Russia and China, the EU declared several 'strategic minerals' a few years back, incase they were ever cut off. Old abandoned mines in europe are being re-activated.

Stock markets went up yesterday then Crashed.. www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/donbas-rebel-leaders-formally-urge-immediate-russian-military-assistance- Putin during a meeting with the French President said he in principle agreed to have a meeting with Biden and the security council.
- Later his media said it is not time for a meeting, then news came in that a Russian border control point was mortar bombed.
- Putin "The Russian president officially signed the decree recognizing the independence of two breakaway regions earlier on Monday. He has instructed the Russian Defense Ministry to send peacekeepers into the Donbass, while telling the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish diplomatic relations with both Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics."
- Putin has now ordered "PEACE" keeping troops into Ukraine separatist areas
- Putin now accusing Ukraine of being the aggressors.
Where does this end..........

Stocks will vary depending on what they sell. For LNG stocks it's great.

Gold is peaking. Totally unsurprising. The cartels attacked yesterday to push it back down, but they can't suppress it with the shenanigans going on overseas. I follow a stock market analyst who's critical analysis has been really on the money for the last few years. He quoted peaking at $1920 per oz as the start of the next 8 year cycle advancing bull phase for metals. His last two predictions were the first line where the cartels would attack at $1835 per oz. They did indeed attack. The second was $1880 per oz and again, they attacked. The last is $1920, which is where he said that the cartels simply won't be able to suppress the price and it will start to rise.
What's this got to do with Russia? Timelines. I don't think he was expecting it quite so quickly, although he did suspect it would come in the next few months. He's also gone bear-ish on energy which is where everyone is jumping in to make gains at the moment. I think he's on the money. As Warren Buffet says, be greedy when others are scared, and be scared when others are greedy. Metals always feel nice and safe and if this spreads past the Ukraine and Russia situation it might be one of the safest places to be.
Be interesting to see which stocks start to rise off the back of conflict concerns.

My Cold War 2.0 pick is Alkane. They are a gold miner in NSW with plenty of leases for expansion. They also found a bunch of rare earths, which would do well if the CCP stops exporting again. Since they own 90% of the world's rare earth mines, alternatives are going to be needed.

Putin has made his move and no one has done anything, just like with Crimea. I'd say he will do nothing for a few years and then take another bite somewhere.

Putin has done it repeatedly. There are now four 'breakaway' republics loyal to Russia that were the direct result of Russia invading its neighbours. 5 if you count Transnistria. 6 if you count Crimea. Expect a couple of the 'usual offender' countries to follow suit and offer recognition to these regions.

The nord stream 2 sanction is being applauded. wow wee! It’s not commissioned yet and guess where the gas comes from? germany is basically saying we don’t need your nord stream pipe but reality shows that there is an energy crunch in Europe and they darn well need that gas. How dumb do they think we are?. I can see Vlads hand on the gas tap already and it’s not being opened further.

France & Belgium have decided to keep their Nuclear plants going for a few more years...Germany might do the same? Silly not to keep them going. I'm a massive fan of renewables, but all closing down nuclear plants early does is cause the new renewables to displace nuclear rather than displacing coal in the energy generation mix.

The civvies in Ukraine are tooling up. Sales of guns, real guns like ARs and ammo are going up big time. Local militas are forming. Ukraine militia Australian militia. Actually that knife is probably illegal so the best we could do is put thumb tacks on the end of the nerf bullets.

95 unleaded already increased to $2 per litre in the Illawarra, was 10c cheaper this morning. Didn't take the fuel companies long to cash in on the turmoil.
