Send some rain over here. Yip the big Aus climate drivers: Indian dipole and La Niña have both completely reverted - now drought in Aus and flooding in Africa, Europe and USA... Natural disasters are a big prepper driver and with all the wars going on who is going to come to help. Bushfires on the radar again

Bushfires are our biggest threat here. Even with our own fire tankers, pumps, also unlimited water, roof sprinklers, no long grass within 100 meters of the dwellings and knowledge, Its still a bad time.
We built at the bottom of the hill, for the bushfire reason.
Its actually so dry, I'm not doing any more bee work until it rains as a spark from the smoker could cause an inferno.
In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

Things in the Baltic are heating up two undersea cables damaged in short succession NATO sending in surveillance and thinking Russia is behind it. NATO Sends Drones, Planes And Ships To Baltic Sea Following Suspected Undersea Sabotagewww.stripes.com/theaters/europe/2023-10-20/nato-undersea-sabotage-sweden-finland-11767308.htmlThe vulnerability of undersea gas pipelines and communication cables to sabotage is a growing NATO concern. Alliance officials have warned that Russia could target such infrastructure to gain leverage against allied countries providing security assistance to Ukraine. On Tuesday, those concerns were brought into focus when Sweden reported partial damage to an undersea telecommunications cable connected to Estonia. Authorities suspect the damage occurred at the same time an undersea gas pipeline and telecommunications cable running from Finland to Estonia was found to be damaged last week. The incidents remain under investigation and senior NATO officials have refrained from blaming Russia so far. “If it is proven to be a deliberate attack on NATO-critical infrastructure, then this will be, of course, serious, but it will also be met by a united and determined response,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said last week during a meeting of allied defense ministers. NATO said it will more closely monitor an area that already had been under surveillance since the 2022 sabotage of Nord Stream 1, a Baltic Sea pipeline that delivered natural gas from Russia to Germany. Here goes even bigger ammo shortage. Czech IT Company Gobbles Up US Ammo Manufacturers - Remington, Federal, CCI and Others Being Sold Off www.msn.com/en-us/money/other/czech-it-company-gobbles-up-us-ammo-manufacturers-remington-federal-cci-and-others-being-sold-off/ar-AA1izXilEven in peaceful times, Americans take a healthy interest in the companies that manufacture their weapons and ammunition. In the present state of the world, that interest should only intensify. On Monday, Vista Outdoor of Anoka, Minnesota, announced in a news release that it had sold its Sporting Products business to the Czechoslovak Group. Based in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, CSG operates as "a leading industrial technology holding company." Yahoo Finance reported that CSG's newly acquired business includes major U.S. ammunition manufacturers Remington, Federal, CCI, Hevi-Shot and Speer.

I am not to sure what it means when the US largest ammo manufacture is bought out? !!!#### The ammo plants cant keep up with demand, then there is US election coming up, historically a big gun and ammo sale time - with wars breaking out and US politics more divided than ever.. Why sell a business that is absolutely booming, why buy a business for what I would expect is top $$$. The article talks about military and law enforcement production, very little about civilian usage... Also reports of US military ammo plant told to cease selling to Civilians - there is some other strange things going on.... 5.56 ammo has gone up and I am also getting news feeds of shortages again. Did Biden Order Army's The Lake City Ammunition Plant To Cancel Civilian Sales?

The US defence force has been cranking out recruitment videos all over US TV recently as well, and so serious are they, that they are devoid of any wokeism targeting the "straight white males" and dropping all the usual black/LGB target marketing that we've seen for the last few years. So I guess the US is getting serious about ramping up for the next war in the very near future. With multiple front sat the money between Ukraine, Gaza and China its too early to pick where things will spark off first.
Edit: reading in on some US military forums, the US SECDEF has put US military on "heightened state of readiness" for deployment. Its not said where to yet, but money is back to the sandbox to fill their partner obligation for Israel since they have a naval battlegroup deployed to the region at the moment.

Yes but what is current state of play with Primers, Powder, Brass and Projectiles in Australia? I haven't purchased any of this stuff in years, (haven't needed to)!

There are reports of the Defense frequency of 11.175 MHz being transmitted on every 6 seconds bleep. This is usually to keep the frequency open, ready for operators to receive information and act quickly. We cant usually hear this out here, but if conditions are good, it is possible. It may be worthwhile writing down that frequency and have it ready as its another source of information.
All that ammo is not for me, but for bartering if needed. I think that .22 cal ammo will become the new gold standard WTSHTF.
To love rightly is to love what is orderly and beautiful in an educated and disciplined way.

They guys at my work say handgun primers and powders are not available and double the price on the now Aus back market. Centerfire primers are problematic.

Have over 40 chicks, so time for some more cages, that's taking the time today.
Saw a comment re the upcoming nuke war that said to put on a bit of bulk. Two main reasons, one extra in case food is short and two, the extra fat gives a buffer from radiation to the central core of the body. Hadn't thought of that aspect. Each pound of fat you have equals one and a half days of energy.
I'm in shape....round is a shape isn't it ?

Good luck finding large rifle primers. Small pistol primers are starting to come back in supply, but no powder. ADI rifle powder like 2208 is available but about $150 per 500g.

US 10y bond yield has now surpassed 5%, Aus stocks down 2.5% year to date, all stocks across the globe in red...Israel conflict now escalating on all fronts.
Many economists predicting imminent doom...

So my point of view on that.
There are two US aircraft carriers out there, each hosting a minimum of 5000 sailors. That doesn't include the support vessels which include four destroyers (approximately 380 pers each). Those are just the offensive vessels, support vessels like resupply would be with them too. Possibly electronic warfare too.
China has sent six (that I know of so far) ships, from what I can tell one of which is a destroyer and I'm going to take a stab that there's maybe two frigates. The others will likely be support vessels. Probably about 250-280 pers per vessel capped out.
What does this mean? China would be woefully under-gunned to the point of almost instant annihilation if they attempted to cause an intentional 'miscalculation'. They have two possible angles here imo. They do indeed want to cause a 'miscalculation' that gives them the excuse to kick off a 'they started it first' offensive. Unlikely, but possible. The other is that they want to be seen in the region and have already been flagging that they want this war to deescalate in MSM. But they also don't want to put any of their own resources into enforcing the act. The yanks are already there with their big guns, why waste powder on someone else's fight? If things simmer down, they can claim to their people that it was due to their intervention, and they may even swing a little spicy incidental intel collection at the same time. Good news week. Everyone go home early.
The latter is the one I'd put money on if push came to shove. Of course, we're not getting the full loadout or micro view to be fully certain but I'd definitely go with a solid "Bugger, I owe you a beer" if I was wrong on the second guess. Doesn't mean it's not concerning, but I'd put more money on the yanks putting such a show of force on as an indicator than the Chinese rocking up. At this stage, anyway.
Happy to take on views or additional info to adjust my thoughts on it of course! After all, no one has a crystal ball. It's all just educated guesses at the end of the day.

I bet the yanks have at least one nuke sub in the area. Perhaps so close the Iranian air defence guys will only get time for just one ‘Aloha Snackbar’ between the subs nuclear missile emerging from underneath the water and making Tehran glow in the dark.
