I don’t get it spinifex. They Race towards the fire for no apparent reason then don’ t evacuate the area when the fire front is clearly visible. Then suffer a burn over that seems totaly unnecessary and avoidable. I’d never sign up with that crew. What am i missing here?

Bees are definitely on our to do list. My partner is doing a bee keeping course in Dec and we'll set the bees up after that. I don't think an awful lot of Glysophate gets sprayed in the immediate vicinity of our property so hopefully not too much fall-out to worry about there. We are hoping our bees will support our vines, veggies and trees to good effect. Hi milspec, glyphosate won’t kill your bees unless they fall into a drum of the stuff. Incecticides are the real issue for the little fellas. good on you for getting into bees. the recent kerfuffle about dodgy honey only reinforces my desire to begin my own bee hives.

If they can afford these fighters, why are we providing $360 million in aid to Indonesia in 2017/2018 financial year? especially as their military budget it over 7910.8 USD Million for 2018 ( tradingeconomics.com/indonesia/military-expenditure ) makes you wonder why - maybe to try to placate a potential angry northern neighbour? Indonesia is the country China would use for a proxy war on Australia. So we pay them to play nice. That has not worked very well at times and may be increasingly difficult with a more extreme muslim government.

This is on top of $400 million worth of Apache choppers purchased a few months ago. Pull all of our aid out of Indonesia, they don’t need it.

According to the map it Looks like India and China are off the hook. hmmmm. I can’t see the Amazon basin struggling too much but it appears in the red. Phew, i though AI was going to put me out of a job. Judging by that assessment i’ve got a few years yet.

fyi topo maps won’t be available in printed format in the near future. they will come as a digital file instead. if you want paper you will be required to print them yourselves. there is good and bad points to doing this but it is clear the world is pretty digitised.
i was out surveying on a dry lake last year using an ipad with the relevant mapping software, the ipad stopped working due to high heat and shut down on me. it was only 44 degrees.
a map in the hand is a valuable asset...a heat stroked ipad is not.

what is the adaptor for? auto LPG? if so read up on what is in auto LPG as it can be upto 50% butane where as normal bbq gas (propane) is upto 8% butane. I don’t know the repercussions of using it for your bbq or heating. in saying that i’ve heard of butane campstoves and lighters so maybe the gas companies have scared people off the obvious cheaper alternative.
As for the adaptor, well it doesn’t even show a picture, i need pictures😀

my question is “how would i most like to live? under the power of China or the US?” I choose under the influence of the US any day just as i do now. I think 90% of the worlds population outside of China would choose the same. China doesn’t have rock music, free speech or muscle cars to win any hearts and minds. They won’ t dominate the world as a result.
They could cause a lot of trouble in the interim though and that is why i default to looking after me and mine the same as said above.

if you need to bug out you can easily take a large value of gold with you. it would be very difficult to take all your stashed food with you in the same situation. Spread your bets and cover multiple options, to what degree is up to the individual.

Google is ok for locating man made infrastructure like dams, particularly in a desert environment. However as you'd know dams are sometimes unreliable out here so caution and a recon mission is advised. Natural water apart from rivers and lakes rarely show up on google as the resolution is generally pretty poor.

damnthematrix.wordpress.com/
I found this site today and have found a lot of the content to be very relevant to the prepper mindset including doomer scenarios, sustainability, food production etc. It's worth a look. I just finished listening to the catastrophic agriculture link and enjoyed it.

I’ll be bugging out and away from the desert myself. However there is more meat out here than you can poke your skewer at. I can spot goats and roos from kilometres away. If i was to stay out here it’d be along the Darling or major river. In shtf the water flow would be better than what it is now and more viable to live along one. One of the other pluses is that there will be few people out here to fight off.

after paying off mortgage it would be beneficial to have a savings stash to pay for a few years of bills incase of financial collapse, that way you have a better chance of keeping your house and rebuilding life afterwards.

use a multimeter to test the battery against its rated voltage when the battery is fully charged. if its significantly lower it is nearing its end of life or damaged. remember your battery bank is only as good as its weakest link (battery).
2nd hand might be ok if your not concerned about reliability, significant work load and maintenance.
there is a wide range of battery sizes from car batteries to ones that weigh hundreds of kgs. What are you looking for?
