There's no advocating for the devil on this one. Genocide is wrong. End of discussion. There isn't even room for "It doesn't affect us" in my books. It affects a whole group of innocent folk who are weak and undefended from their own government. That alone should raise the hair on the back of the neck of any sensible human being. But I'll bite. Why do we care if they take over the South China Sea? What on EARTH makes you think they'd stop there? I don't plan on learning Mandarin any time soon, and I certainly don't want my children to have to if they don't want to. And to top it all off, the Uighurs aren't being 'cleansed' because they're Muslim. They're being cleansed because they're from a different ethnic group. The religion thing is just a pathetic excuse. So they take over more than the SCS. They spread their fingers far and wide. The CCP are in control because it wasn't our problem until it was too late. And my kids or grandkids are on the run and being 're-educated' because they don't have Chinese blood. That's a fight I'd take to the CCP before I allowed it. I get a theoretical discussion to open up thoughts on things, but there's no room for movement on these factors in my mind. They're already tearing things out of the cold, dead hands of their own people. There's no doubt in my mind that they'll do the same to us eventually if they're not brake-checked. The similarities between early Nazi behaviour and what the CCP is doing now is more than a little bit hackle-inducing. Urgh. This type of discussion method belongs on reddit, usually by rusted-on leftists. You'll find no shortage of keyboard warriors there who are not interested in any serious discussion, but plenty who will attack anything that seeks to look at what the other side seeks to achieve, what opposing them means for us etc. whatever the topic. It creates an echo chamber for those who can't find a suitable one in real life.

Australia needs to step up and counter this. We have plenty of vaccines available. It's great way to counter the CCP. Unlike much foreign aid, this one isn't money that all too often 'disappears'.

Of course, that's the way they do things! First provide what the small country needs (vaccines, roads, ports whatever), then remind them later that they owe a favour or two....or else.

Hey Bug,
We are not here to launch personal attacks on each other.
Argue a point fine. Disagree fine. Calling names or casting aspersions NOT fine.
Apology in order!

I'd like to remind you guys that you're free to have your own opinions. If you dont like someone elses opinion, just suck it up, and move on, there's no need to go on the attack and start labelling people and spiralling it downwards from there. You've got two choices .... a politically correct forum where nobody says anything meaningful...or a free speach forum where people will express ideas that rub you the wrong way at times. That said ... What happened to the good old days when you could challenge someone to a duel when they dissed you .. it helped people keep their opinions to themselves and terminated the slanging matches before they got too far.

Apparently it took me 9 minutes to type my response and Spinifex beat me to the punch line.

Can we still slag off at public serpents, politifilth and leg humpers? Cause a good rant is almost as good as a fine whisky.

As per above comments - let's keep it civil, and agree to disagree.
Duelling, well, what you do away from here is your call!

Hey Bug, We are not here to launch personal attacks on each other. Argue a point fine. Disagree fine. Calling names or casting aspersions NOT fine. Apology in order! A discussion point was posted about why we would oppose what the CCP is doing and what that would mean. The response was little more than a rant at an argument nobody was making. That is literally what virtue signalling is. It is not conducive to discussion and has no place here.

20 pages of comment on a prepping forum on what China is doing, but little or no comment on how we might mitigate any impact the CCP might have on us as preppers.

So I'll start: I think it's a reasonable assumption that China will continue to assert itself it the oceans to our north and north east. They might even dominate the waters between us and PNG and take control of large parts of Antarctica. How will this affect us? What goods might become scarce and/or more expensive? Will it affect our supply of oil? Will our government fund a massive increase in defence spending to counter the Chinese military and will this result in cutbacks in other areas of government spending?
Thoughts, anyone?

Having no controls of the seas around us will see arbitrary blockades by the Chines due to whatever they want to make up as an issue. It’s been done with trade so it would get worse with control of the lower pacific and Indian oceans. The only way we would be safe in this scenario is nuclear deterrant such as fitting the barracudas with a salvo of nukes and removing ourselves from treaties that have proven ineffective.

Just don't buy any Chinese stuff, easily said, probably impossible to do as they have infiltrated almost all our manufacturing industry's and destroyed most of our research and development institutes. We are no longer the clever country, just buy junk from someone else. I know, we are so ted up with the Chinese that its probably impossible to untangle ourselves from their influence. I try and repair Aussie made gear obtained from op shops, the tip etc. At least I am learning skills that will be valuable after TSHTF.
All my life I wanted to be someone, I should have been more specific !

China using nearly 200 strong fishing fleet suspected to be manned by Chinese fishing militia is currently bullying their way into the Philippines EEZ zone to clean out the fish stock on the reefs around the western Palawan islands on the Philippines.
