I wonder if Xi would get taken out if he pushed too hard? The Xiaoping family are not a fan of his direction.

My off grid retreat is immune from cyber attack. Do you consider yourself to be immune from world events ?

My off grid retreat is immune from cyber attack. Do you consider yourself to be immune from world events ? Yes, pretty much. Too many people worry too much about things that will never impact on them. I've spent 35 years building resilience. I'd welcome you throwing a scenario at me to see if I'm as prepared as I say I am.

Can we do polls on this forum? I'd like to know the % of people here who think we should go to war over Taiwan...if it comes to that.

An excerpt from the above and it's what I've been thinking since that article appeared four days ago:- "Once this directive was issued in China, it caused a massive wave of panic buying in local supermarkets…
The directive was released on the government’s Weibo account, a similar platform to Twitter, stated: “Ministry of Commerce encourages households to stockpile daily necessities as needed.” It had more than 17 million views as of Tuesday. Some netizens were concerned that an impending invasion of Taiwan was the reason for the stockpiling directive. As soon as this news came out, all the old people near me went crazy panic buying in the supermarket,” wrote one Weibo user.
Could it be possible that Chinese officials want people to prepare because an invasion of Taiwan is coming soon?
Yes, that is possible, but hopefully we aren’t at that point yet.
I definitely believe that military conflict is approaching, but let us hope that it can be put off for as long as possible.
Here in the United States, we are certainly not ready for a showdown with China over Taiwan, because we have begun the process of kicking large numbers of people out of the military. For instance, just check out what the Air Force is doing…"

After being a bit silly and trying to check the last hive of bees in the aipery yesterday, without smoke as Id run out of fuel and it was starting to rain. I got hammered, even through my socks and clothes, I got stung. Im probably bullet proof in relation to any viruses that want to have me for a few days. 100% bee venom blood, even the mozzies will die if they try to feed on me !

I'd welcome you throwing a scenario at me to see if I'm as prepared as I say I am. I imagine that as a genuine prepper you have plenty of supplies and such to endure a period of time where society is disrupted. However, since your retreat is a retreat rather than your full time residence it implies that you normally live elsewhere and normally do other things with your days. That's the stuff a cyber attack will potentially disrupt. Will you still drive around going to work or taking holidays and such if a cyber attack has disrupted fuel supplies and payment systems ... you may have a stash of fuel but will you continue to drive around willy nilly, you may have cash but will businesses be able to accept it or have the goods you want to buy? As for your retreat specifically, consider something like how you'll manage with an armed and dangerous group who've made their way from Goulburn Supermax gaol when all the cell doors opened in a cyber attack, to your neck of the woods looking for a retreat of their own. You might have a great plan for it, I'm just saying that a cyber attack will change the landscape and effect our routine lives.

I live about 3.5hrs from my retreat, which under normal circumstances takes half a tank of fuel in my ute. I almost always keep the tank half full, and always have 60l at home, rotated regularly. That fuel is only for getting to my retreat. I haven't needed to work for years. I have enough assets put away for the rest of my life, but I still work just so I can buy whatever preps or luxuries I want whenever I want. And to spoil my children and grandchildren. Little things like helping my daughter buy her 3 year old his first house. So if a cyber attack occurred I'd just sit back, pour a single malt whisky, light a cuban, and enjoy the show.
As for 2 leggest villians invading my property, I'm not going to outline all my capabilities on a public forum, but I like to think I'm better prepared than most. I have the right tools and the right mindset, and I think my skills and tactics would be good enough to deal with most threats.

It looks to be a bombing type range, prob practising strafing runs with bombers and fighters on moving targets using the rail system, but also possibly testing the target tracking system on their "ship killer" missiles

Interesting that China and the US are apparently in agreement on climate efforts now. What do folks make of that? I'm really not sure what to think on it!

They're pretty much agreeing to not sign anything that holds them to account aren't they?

Strategic islands close to home - good response from the Govt to send in troops so quickly - interesting to see how the situation pans out!
