This thread is politically charged, maybe relegate it to the secret squirrel area of the forum?

I'm surprised no one commented on Taiwan's response.
Taiwan spits the dummy after the Solomon's establish diplomatic relations with China! Corrupt, money grabbing deal by China not withstanding, it would of been a great opportunity for Taiwan to just sit back and let a country recognise both Taiwan & China but they went and did the stupid shit that the Commies always do!
Maybe Taiwan should invade China and reunite the Chinese people! Madness.

Taiwan would be annoyed as the Solomons was one of the new nations to publicly recognise Taiwan as an independent nation. China has been going hard after these smaller countries with that stance to use economic pressure to suede their choice to try and remove anyone who still calls Taiwan it's own state.

Hmmm. I don't know about Abe in particular, I haven't really had my head in the Japanese space. But given the general national attitude (negative) towards things that seem militaristic or aggressive I don't know what the general Japanese consensus is on someone poking China on their behalf. I do know that the younger generations seem more inclined towards their defence force stepping up it's game but the older ones seem to be very anti-warfare. With good reason after their last major hammering. It's pretty well driven into their constitution to remain 'self defence only'. That being said I guess there's a point where any major player has to realise that the threat is only going to increase and they are RIGHT next door after all!

The Japanese govt is very concerned with the CCP. Like practically every country bordering China, the CCP claims part of Japan's territory and regularly flies military aircraft near it. In this case it's the Senkaku islands.

Great article with sold analysis. It's interesting that what was said privately about the CCP is now being said in the open. The mainstream media has always been cautious about losing the China advertising dollar, but they seem to be reading the mood of the Australian public a little better these days.

I get the feeling there are actually quite a lot of people who'd have liked to have rung the alarm bells for the general public MUCH sooner. It's becoming more and more common to see those sorts of articles popping up. But also concerning because it means not only is there more appetite for hearing the message, it means there's less appetite for silencing it. Take from that what you will.

It means the advertisers have read the winds of change and swapped sides (or rather placed yet another foot in the other camps to hedge their bets). Ka-ching!

The PRC cannot ever take Taiwan back because they never owned it.
