Look, I'm not going to say 100% that it's not possible. But likely? About as likely as me becoming an Olympic long distance runner. As in, not if there's other easier, lazier options. And those abound.
Those plans were made in the 60s. They were declassified in the early 90s. Pretty sure the Americans also had a plan to build a fully self-sustaining biodome society on the moon around about then as well. You can probably find declassified plans for those online as well.
This war has nothing to do with building any kind of infrastructure. It's about fast money. The people who're ultimately responsible for it care as much about the incomes of future generations as they do the lives of the innocents being murdered over there (and I'm referring to all innocents, no matter which country they come from). The powers that be want their billions now, not in the twenty odd years it would take to build an appropriately traversable canal. You get that money by generating sales of weaponry and other materiel. Not by having some grand plan for a water way that may not even be achievable.

On a more local level the war is a land grab by Israel. Hamas’ stupid orgy of violence gave the Israeli government authority to terminate Hamas and take permanent control of Gaza. All that beachfront real estate bombed and bulldozed in Gaza will eventually become new Jewish settlements. Gaza is history and they brought it on themselves.

Unlikely. There is zero willingness of Hamas and their supporters to negotiate with Israel. This leaves Israel with a choice of either putting up with the attacks or doing something about them. The perfect scenario for Israel is a 50m high wall and 5km of minefields around the Gaza strip. Let Egypt deal with the people they sent to Gaza in the first place. No way would Israel sacrifice their security for some canal.

See my post from Nov 8. Israel was never going to let such a golden opportunity slip through their fingers. This action is not tit-for-tat, it’s not a limited military response to a terrorist massacre, it’s a declared war. And permanent annexation of territory is a long accepted outcome of declared war. Bye bye Gaza.

Even after the Friday with all the marches and other nonsense I still hear people on the news bemoaning what Israel is doing to Palestine.. Hello.. Palestine shot first.. What do they expect ??
How much more will it take for people to realize ..wait a minute.. who really is at fault here ?? Some likely never will..

What is happenning in the UK looks more like a bunch of invaders demonstrating that 'we own this place now' than anything resembling a protest.

Play nice guys. They have been fighting over that same land for the last 3000 years and will continue fighting it until it becomes scorched earth.

Play nice guys. They have been fighting over that same land for the last 3000 years and will continue fighting it until it becomes scorched earth. This. After a bit of reading the conclusion I've come to is that cavemen will be cavemen. Well, it was a conclusion that I'd already drawn long ago after interaction with similar cavemen, but you get the idea. I have Jewish family friends who're loved and well respected members of our Australian landscape, and yet they're being cautious and staying low at the moment. In their own country. They've lived here for several generations. They're Aussies. And yet they're afraid to go into certain part of their cities in case someone flags them as Jews and goes all 'Free Palestine' on them. They have nothing to do with the conflict. Any more than you or I. But the antisemitism that's popped up here is just disgusting. The first second they get, the white supremacists use any scapegoat situation to start shouting about getting rid of them. HERE. People are looking for an excuse to fight and some of we'd be better off locking them up but instead we give them free speech and let normal, every day Aussies start looking over their shoulder because of a situation that they have absolutely no impact or control over. It boils my blood. /rant

Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. That is what is going to happen to Syria. The Israelites in the end will be victorious.. It is a religious war and will end as per religious prophecy.

They are poor and uneducated it is their own doing.

Oh I'm not referring to the civilians. They're a largely innocent in the situation, as are civilians in all conflicts. The cavemen are the ones benefiting from the fighting.

At what I feel could be a significant ..internet posting risk.. as it were.. I have to say my feeling is.. If Hamas was a bug on your kitchen floor, you would step on it, wipe it up, be done and move on..
This is how I feel Israel should handle this and to he!! how the rest of the woke, my 15 minutes of camera time, or anyone else in the world thinks about it.. Israel lives there, no body else does..
My 5 cents of opinion..

Anyone else noticed how suspiciously quiet and compliant China has been since all this kicked off? I'm not drawing any conclusions (yet) but it seems really sus that they're suddenly trying to be the perfect trade partner and backing down on all the inflammatory comments in the last few weeks.

Your right.... About China being quiet.. Like when your kids are quiet, you KNOW something is going on you won't like... With that in mind they deserve double scrutiny..

About as quiet as Iran. Toothless tiger they turned out to be. I’m looking forward to seeing how quiet the Lebs get now that Israel has threatened to do a ‘Gaza’ on Beirut.

...Toothless tiger... Um.. I'm not sure about Iran on this, certainly China isn't ..toothless.. They seem to be biding there time in the background, out of the spot light it seems.. Either one is capable of drawing blood, but not sure for how long.. Neither and a number of others should not be underestimated..
My 5 cents of opinion..
