Is Trump really this stupid? He has tweeted that the US is locked and loaded to attack Iran and is waiting for the Saudi's to issue the order to fire. Since when does a US president take orders from a middle east dictator? It wasn't orders he was waiting for, it was confirmation that the attack came from Iran.

Add me to the list of 'happy with how it is now'. I checked out the other options frostbite mentioned ... this site really is well in front. Only point I'd raise is that this site shows up well down the list on google search (about page 6 from memory). That probably helps keep the weeds out of the wheat here but it might also mean the site misses out on extra members. It's a fine line of balance I suppose. The only thing I have to mention is we do need more members and/or active people on this forum.

Use a story or an example to stoke up a conversation regarding being prepared compared to not being prepared. Use this story to make points about it in a jovial matter where those around you can join in to the discussion. This could allow you to bring up the discussion later on and further push the subject.

Someone posted a link to a 2014 Blackout movie (a US one) on a different forum. I tried watching it... as usual it's the standard prepper scenario progression: a few days of limbo, then panic, then increasingly bad crime, chaos and murder ... but is that what has historically happened? In the US, at the peak of the Depression, the homicide rate was only 9 per 100,000 ... that's about what it is in Baltimore now. In Australia, on the other hand, it's currently 1 to 2 in the larger population centres and 0.6 overall according to Wikipedia. We don't have the same crime culture as the US. How much is just that we're culturally different, even with migration, from America? Are our police 10 times more effective than US police or something? Or is it that we just have less guns and ammo floating around so people are more careful with them? This guy says there isn't a direct link between crime and financial hard times: www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-latzer-crime-economy-20140124-story.htmlI have been thinking through all this stuff because there's a lot of doom and gloom around about how bad the depression was, but it was actually a lot better than most of the TEOTWAWKI scenarios people post and discuss. It can be hard to get a realistic grip on not just worst case, but a more likely case. If we can stay home and things won't be that bad, I will want different preps and stronger social ties than if we are going to be dealing with Venezuela type scale disaster and any informant is doom. When we have bushfires here there's not much looting, but lots of donations to relief centres. On the other hand in LA they have a blackout for one night and people smash windows and steal Tv's (that don't work without power...) why the difference? Population density

Quite enjoy Townsends videos. I have lately been doing a lot of research on the old ways, especially involving cooking.

From what I've heard, they have about 30 to 90 days worth. Thats according to friends in the petroleum industry.

I’m looking to do some research on how the old timers set up their stills in regards to cutting on steam vapour leakage. Very interested in how they dealt with it. There’s always an unfortunate cost with purchasing insulation tape for each cook.

I think the question I'd want answered is, when do I stop purchasing food for preps after the prices start rising?

I always pack a rubber doorjam with me. Its small light and takes up little space, extra security for your hotel room door. Just wedge it under the door and anyone coming in will have a lot of trouble.

www.wisport.com.pl/en/shop/reindeer-hunt/This is one of the packs Im thinking of getting. It's made by Wisport a Polish company that makes a lot of military and hiking gear. It's 55 litres not counting the side pouches that are removal. Straps are great for carrying additional gear on the outside, as well as strapping on a long gun on the back. The great thing about it is it has an expansion sleeve the allows for an additional 10 to 12 litres. I like the design and the colours it comes in. No big fan of anything that looks to military, camo, MOLLE etc. The general idea with my Preps is that this will be just sitting in the back of BOV as storage but can be taken out and walked out in a pinch. Also as I'm an avid hiker, it would be used as my main hiking bag.

I was using a crossfire Dg8, 133l including external pockets. One hell of a pack, designed for long range sf patrols. Very solid with an internal metal frame, quite heavy but would fit everything you need and still have room for the mitchen sink. I could pack everything I needed in it for a week away no problem. I now use a crossfire dg3, only 80l not including two external pouches. Much more managerable as I get older (now in my mid 50's) and moving away from carrying huge weights on my back. I use crossfire because I was a reseller for a while and could get new packs for as little as $25 each, despite RRP being around $500 Hey Frostbite, that sounds great. Thanks for the info, might even look those packs up. Thanks

Looking to update my pack that I use as a GHB (Get Home Bag) - BOB (Bug Out Bag). Was wondering what you guys carry in regards to volume capacity in litres. Not sure on what size bag I want upgrade to. I currently carry a 35-40 litre and finding its tough to carry everything I need. I do want a bag that does have some left over space in it. So let me know what you guys carry. Also if you have any large pouch attachments to the outside of your pack. Thanks!

Yeah this shits me to tears. It part of the reason I sometimes avoid getting in to discussions about SHTF with other preppers either on forums or during meet ups. What I may be prepping for may not be what you are prepping for.
