Something we have also considered for our very non tactical poodle is a means to sedate him if being counter-detected was a significant concern. We have two "non tactical chihuahuas" if a segull farts on the beach over road they have to let us know. Great for letting us know when someone is about but not very disciplined when being discreet is necessary

Haven't managed to find any in Tassie yet so bit the bullet and ordered 10 cans from Melbourne yesterday.worked out 50% dearer than WA once postage was addded on, but their postage was a flat $19.95 so if it works out ok I'll go through their website to see what else is of use to reduce costs. Will have to get my brother to bring a couple of cartons from WA when he comes across. Not an essential prep but everyone I know that tastes it loves it. Always try to keep a few cans just for a change every so often. Butter arrived today pretty happy with the service 14 month expiry, good 12 months supply in stock now.

Sweet, the Kiwi shop, Choice. I'll have to go check them out. Benara fresh were cheaper if you go near Morley in your travels

You guys can afford contents insurance? I work in the mines and can barely afford to pay my extras only health cover which is about to be cancelled as we aren't using it and they pay sweet F-all when I do claim my glasses through them. I know it should be done even if I'm renting, as my trade tools alone is maybe 50K alone when you add it all up Cancelled mine(health insurance)a few years ago roughly $2500 a year for the last 20 years before I cancelled it had my teeth cleaned once in that 20 years got about $100 off. The year I cancelled it paid an extra $1300 medicare levy. The numbers definitely didn't add up, if you're not using it do your sums. Some may be better than others. But again the missus has the top cover and has been getting a few test done for some heredity health issues lucky if she's getting 30% back.

WA is stuffed at the moment - almost every business manager I've spoken with agrees that things are down by 50 - 80% (that is, some industries are now suffering through 20% of their normal turnover). Auction yards are one exception due to the current rate of repossession, and industrial repair services are another exception; many businesses are now repairing plant & machinery rather than replacing. Shops are closing at a rate I've never seen before, and too many commercial properties sit empty for extended periods. It's extremely difficult to get finance, partly because the banks are being difficult but mostly because house values took a big hit when the mining boom ended (it wasn't technically a mining boom, rather a construction boom on the mines). Many people were stupid during the peak times; they wasted their very high incomes by a) uncontrolled spending, and b) using the income to obtain finance for luxury items which they can no longer pay for. Many people can't even sell out of their homes because the market value of the house is lower than the existing finance owing. The auction yards are thriving because of this. We've had a lot of bad governments over here without even rudimentary economic knowledge. They continue to increase spending, and increase taxes, fees, duties, etc to pay for it. It's a disgrace. Hearing you Peter on average the houses in the suburb in Perth I still have a house have devalued $100k from when we bought 10 years ago

Not much so far as there's no garden beds at the house we're leasing but there is a large sun room at the back. Got several large pots with ferns that are going crazy(yes I know I can't eat them) also planted a dozen garlic cloves Tuesday night 4 of which have sprouted already. Got a heap of vege seeds last weekend which I put in the remaining pots. Appears to be a great growing environment in the sun room so will also try to find some small fruit trees to pot. Literally tons of BlackBerry growing along the roadsides down here and there were hundreds of field mushrooms popping up in the lawn on the beach front a couple of kms down the road so looks like a bit of free foraging in the future.

One of my first projects when we get Tasmania is to get some fruit trees started in pots ready to put in the ground once we buy.

Made another batch yesterday & today ( still from the lot I picked ), used a recipe I found, where instead of sugar, you use honey. Sugar Free Blackberry Jam recipe;(Apologies to the original publisher, I can't find your link again-when I find it I will post it here) 1 kg blackberrys 1 cup Honey 1 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice. Put blackberrys in a pot and bring to medium heat. Slowly add the honey, whilst stirring. When the honey dissolves, add the lemon juice. Use a potato masher and mash the berrys till it looks feels broken down. Allow to gently boil, stirring often. It'll be ready when it starts to thicken. A way to check is to get a teaspoon of berrys and put on a chilled plate - (if it doesn't run, it's ready to bottle). Add to a clean jar. It should last about a month in the fridge. Nice simple recipe will have to give it a try. Might experiment with some other fruits also.

Comes up on evil bay occasionally last lot I saw was 5 x 340g cans for $39 pretty sure it was close to expiry though hence I didn't buy it. I keep a bit of the alfoil wrapped kraft in the storeroom usually about 18 months expiry. where do you get the shelf stable kraft?? I'm guessing it's something you could mylar to extend out a bit? Coles or woolies hidden away amongst the spreads from memory not where you'd expect to find cheese goes on special regularly $5 for 500g block
