Never a good idea to use military on civilians. Just doesn't work. Nobody likes it. Military hates it, they don't want to kill their own people, civilians don't like it. The protesters really wouldn't like it, but other civilians don't like the abuse of power by gov. Just makes things worse. Bad feelings forever, dead people, even less trust. Just fix the problem instead. Totally agree. And yet, I think at some point Mr and Mr's Average are going to be begging for order to be restored by whatever means it takes. Yep that is where this whole shebang has gone wrong including here. Mrs and Mrs average were too boring politically so political parties went cray cray promoting all sorts of extreme left and right wing filth eg boat people, gay marriage, work choices etc.

It’s bizarre. They are apparently protesting their rights to bear arms but i call it intimidation. It’s wild west bullshit. Also i thought the 2nd amendment was to tool up incase they needed to overthrow tyrannical government but it appears they just wanna pick on people with alternative views. as far as i can see the armed protesters are loving Trumpet so why all the guns? The whole mob has gone full retard.

The book has a bunch of common weeds that are edible and plentiful in suburban Australia as well as in the scrub so it's (in my opinion) even more useful than a bush tucker book. Very true. Bush tucker can be really hit and miss. Some of the local delicacies like macadamia in my area no longer set well. It could be the increase in pests and diseases from commercial crops bit the old bush nut is not reliable as a food source. Farmers friends or cobblers pegs are as reliable as the sun coming up just like many other weeds.

So true. Rural people supporting each other is largely a myth. They are business people like anyone else. Unless they are good mates, your neighbour may as well be a stranger if you need help. It’s not true at all. There are some examples where this is not true but i’ve lived most of my entire life in a range of rural areas from the NT, north west Qld, darling downs, northern nsw, broken hill etc and i have always been able to rely on 90% of my neighbours for most things including big ticket stuff like fencing, managing livestock, property maintenance while I've been away and vice versa. Sounds like there is a fair bit of weekend tree changers having a hard time when the visit their “retreats” . It’s understandable see comments above for why this might happen and why you are not seeing the real picture. I've never been more alone, isolated or just feel that i cannot rely on anyone than when I've lived in the big stinkys. everyone has their own experiences i guess.

The 'urbanites' are already coming. There's been a surge in rural properties bought by city dwellers. It's gotten so bad that in many rural centres, there is now a housing shortage. Unthinkable a few years ago. Whilst part of it is white flight, the CV scare certainly hasn't helped. I got asked by the agent who sold us our place if we wanted to sell. It was tongue in cheek as we haven’t even been here for a year but he said demand for small properties was massive. heaps of people fleeing brisbane and the GC. Good on them though. I know a lot of people in the big stinky cities that wanted to move but couldn’t due to work bit covid19 appears to have come to their rescue. They’d wanna play by the rules though and not bring their latte sippin ways and beliefs with them, i can already hear the banjos being restrung.

Hence the name “dirtdiva”. What a garden! it looks like a well managed market garden.

I am concerned though for those living there who have family in Australia. I wonder if they will ever get out, or conveniently disappear. This has been a topic of concern in our Aussie expat groups online. If it wasn't for COVID (and subsequent severe lack of flights), I reckon you would see Aussies leaving mainland China and HK in droves right about now. As it stands, one of my mates was able to get back to Aus a few week ago, but his wife and daughter had their flights changed and they are in China for at least another two weeks. My other mate has been trying to get flights for weeks, but the earliest he has seen enough tickets available for his family would be in late September. I've been looking for flights too, but have so far only seen one at the end of August. By the time I had clicked through and chosen prices etc, all tickets had gone. Looks like its going to be a long long summer for us here in China. Bugger. Look after yourself mate, that place could go to hell in a hand basket in no time. They be looking for retribution i reckon and any foreigners are likely first on the stretching rack. I don’t see an major armed conflict at this stage. Yes their behaviour is unpalatable and disruptive but really it’s not that bad, some tariffs, some arrests a couple of shitty aircraft carriers chugging around close to their shores. And anyway what did we expect from a communist authoritarian dictatorship. My dog could have seen this coming. If anything we should kick our own arses for being so bloody stupid to put all our eggs in one basket.

Military hardware is not the right way to stop the CCP. There's no point at all spending huge amounts of money on this whilst allowing the CCP to buy our infrastructure, buy our politicians and send 'influencers' here. Until we stop welcoming the 5th column inside our gates, there's not much point in having long range defences. This +100. ”we”. needs to be just a handful of treasonous multi billionaires like Gina redhard etc.

Not just the greenies having no plan but the banks, investment companies, shareholders, superfunds etc etc. coal is not turning a profit anymore so why invest. It’s a difficult transition while the issue is so polarising.

Sounds good milspec. I'd like to know how it goes. I’m looking for a youtube alternative as i can’t stand all the deleted content and stupid rules that are running that platform. We need to “vote” with our feet or keyboards, and support more diverse alternatives.

boondie seeds. Most have been very good quality. The ones that haven’t have been trials of seed not suited to my area. Some seeds like carrot and other small seeded veggies are very well priced.

Do cast iron camp ovens and a million tonnes of free firewood count? Now we are talking. Apart from all the conveniences electricity provides, i really only need electricity for refrigeration and maybe some light on these bloody long winter nights.

I love charcoal weber roasts. If you can get some redgum wood and use the chips to smoke steaks, pure bliss.
I need electricity, i have nothing manual except a cheese grater, garlic crusher and a can opener in my kitchen 😆

Wouldn’t it be ironic for them to arm up and invoke their second amendment rights to form a militia?
