I don't think it is d. Minerchina appears way more likeable than d and appears to be at least having a go at making some money. Much unlike d who just slung opinion and mud. And yes i know minerchina is likely a AI bot but i still like those code strings of 0's and 1's better than (keen4the) d. 😁

Too many straws in the milkshake and not enough rain. We seem to have traded resilience as a species for unfettered growth and any little blip in the weather/climate seems to have compounding effects.
The issue with cooling water for power plants seems to go unnoticed by many. During the last drought in south east USA they were curtailing output to use less water from their drying rivers.

treason trē′zən noun The betrayal of allegiance toward one's own country, especially by committing hostile acts against it or aiding its enemies in committing such acts. The betrayal of someone's trust or confidence. A betraying; treachery; breach of faith
When i see companies, individuals and politicians held accountable for this whole shitfight with China then i’ll start taking more notice of all the hullabaloo. Until then it’s BAU.

The only maths i’m interested in is counting, counting population. Soon to be 9 billion souls on this planet. All the other issues are just a side salad compared to this single issue.

The litmus test will be to see what level of retribution taiwan receives after Pelosi leaves the island. This will dictate if the chinese have any real intentions of fighting a war and give the west an insight into what the future might look like with China in unrestrained form.

The torque offered by an electric motor makes their use in farm tractors an interesting proposal. “Just having a talk to a harvest contractor and discussing EV's. Visualizing a 20 ton header, 30 foot wide, stripping grain, towing a battery pack and a diesel generator behind it !” what like this?

In summer i use lemon myrtle to jaz up our water a bit. It is very nice. I don’t know of any nutritional benefit but i’m sure there is some or even a bit of medicinal value.
For those who can do the hard yards in humid heat, staminade is a great addition and potentially save a trip to the hospital by preventing heat stress/stroke or issues due to leached electrolytes.
Some grevillea flowers can be used to sweeten water too.

Experience? Agree with frostbites comments and have had the same thing happen to me. ideas? your idea Tim is probably the best but the practicality is a bit low as there will be 2x postage costs and mucking about. Thoughts? unless availability increases tin cans, are the way to go. sad but true. I guess that is where dehydration takes its place here in Australia.

One reason why we never continued with canning was the cost of new lids. back when we were into it they were over $1each. At that time i could buy a tin can of what ever for under $1. Things may have changed but the economics was not favourable back then. The reusable lids look like a good compromise.

Peter the intent of the thread was to provide details on bulk food supplies for those that don’t or can’t grow there own and to potentially save money in times of inflation. I myself have found these details valuable as one of these outlets is relatively close to me. If you can grow and supply your own then good luck to you but i don’t see the need to scoff at what is being presented here.

Average new car uses about 8 litres per 100km. so 40 cent excise fuel tax times 8 litres is$3.20 tax per 100km. I’m tipping a minimum $2.50 per 100km tax foe EV by 2030 then only up from there.

Does dehydrating kill any nasties in the meat? i make jerky in a 50-60 degree oven and now come to think of it it may not be hot enough to kill parasite eggs and other nasties. I hadn’t given it a thought until you mentioned wallaby meat.

My employer just announced that vaccination is no longer mandatory but highy recommended. Many people left due to this policy so it will be interesting to see the result of any legal action.
I can’t see any further restrictions occurring due to covid. in the end The current policies and laws did not work so why flog the dead horse? If i was casual i’d be looking for permanent work. apparently the times are great for potential job seekers, the local radio is advertising heaps of jobs with OT and other perks.
Personally i struggle with the idea to keep paying low income/no-low skill people to stay in their jobs. I think that to get paid they need to upskill from being baristas and waitstaff to manufacturers, cherry pickers, contract labourers and other strategic industries that will service this country better for an uncertain future.

I don’t take notice of gun deaths. I’m more interested in gun related murder and even more interested in gun mishaps leading to death this improving my own safe hendling. I think you’d find if you take out suicide that those numbers would halve then the stats basically mean nothing to the ordinary person.

Why Piss all over FB for saying what he requires of an EV? The cybertruck would not be far off what he needs. In a few years he will likely be able to get what he wants. I love the green handed slapdowns that instantly appear when one dares to fault the so called green revolution. Calm down little Gretas “how dare you”. I think you are confused, none of us are handing out green handed slapdowns- just pointing out that although we don’t participate in random sand haulage doesn’t mean there isn’t more to consider outside of your use case. “Seems like it’s your very limited horizon which is the limiting factor here.” Mate what do you actually have to offer here other than being a pest? You’ve offered nothing of substance other than being pointlessly argumentative and agitating. What do you want from all this?

As a so called “prepper” i relish the chance to “fill” up my vehicle with my own “juice” aka use my solar to charge my car. I also like the idea the EV can be a back up power supply to my house, that it is quiet and less like.y to draw attention in shtf, that it will out perform 95% of its ICE competitors in terms of torque and acceleration such as tesla model 3 can do 0-100 in 3 seconds, should be much cheaper servicing. If that makes me a latte sipper then *gulp* add caramel next time please.
However i see restrictions being in place for home charging, Australia will bugger up fast charging through incompetence and risk the whole show in EVs, i don’t like all the AI “smart” crap and other flashy junk that comes with new cars and EVs will be full of it. EVs will create havoc with the grid under current circumstances. Most importantly batteries are likely to suffer from huge shortages of critical components all the way through the supply chain, call it Liebigs law of the minimum for EVs.
