oooh, god, cant half tell im tired n didnt read it properly the first time, i actually had to go back and re-read your prior post thinking "rifles? wha???" lol and aah, meh, again, imo black coated anything is just sexy, whether it be a shotty, hunting/sniper rifle, pistol, or assault rifle, like a m4, p90.... lol. i guess some ppl are idiots though, like, hell, any gun can kill, like a .22, the one thing americans are retards for disagreeing with is implementing laws for them to need licencing and be stored safely imo. but thats a whole 'nother topic, lmao
as ive said to several gun toting americans who loved sleeping with a m4 under their bed, a .22 can just as easily leave a hole in a mans head, n if theres several, put a hole in one, and the rest will be faaaar more cautious about trying to enter forcibly, lmao

for water purification - radiation - bentonite clay (which you can then filter out, it absorbs radioactive particles and ions and binds them) pathogens- boiling, bleach or a uv method like a steripen toxins- bentonite again, and activated charcoal filters also, iodine tablets are a good preventitive if concerned about radiation levels in water/food/etc. i am with Gaz though, get your basics sorted, and then you can usually improv your way around almost anything. im sure its not an issue for most APF members, but one skill very few realise takes practice is hunting, then dressing your catch. all well and good to kill something, til you find out that seeing it dead, or trying to gut it leaves you on your back, or spewing til you see stars, or worse yet, contaminate your food! or bust the gut sack all over yourself or your kill.... lol idk what others are doing reference material wise, but im personally stockpiling books (even childrens books, text books, cook books, craft books, anything that could be useful should society go further pear shaped than it already has and we need to teach our kids ourselves!), ebooks, diy project diagrams to bring up on my laptop or phone, novels.... lol (does that make me a knowledge hoarder? XD)

btw, big tip for bushfires, if youre caught in one on the road, do not by any means stop driving. ever. that saved my mum when she was evacuating. another good idea is what a friend did on her familys farm, they set up a sprinkler system on the guttering to wet the roof and the ground surrounding the house. failing that, blocking the downpipe and flooding the gutters works wonders for preventing the roof from catching. and, when evac'ing, if you can choose between a petrol and a diesel vehicle, go diesel. its far less likely to ignite. i gotta say, living in the bush is good for awareness of natural disasters and what to do, no such thing as innocence or ignorance out here if you plan on surviving. nor if you see neighbours and friends/family lose everything in fires or floods, lol. thats a big reason why om relatively content where i live right now, it would have to be a doozy of a fire to get in the township, and im far enough back from the river to be out of the flood zone (and thats been put to the test a few times in a handful of years, lol)

ive been through bush fires before, it was like it followed me! first near parkes, went to stay with my dad in western syd, they broke out a couple of k's away ( we had burnt leaves and huge pieces of ash all over the yard) so we went to stay with my stepmums family in shellharbour, well, they started there too! got to the point that we were straight across one creek from a blaze, then watched it jump over to another area of bushland, but not towards us any further. my own stepbrothers were in the ses, at the base, and it got surrounded all of a sudden, very lucky nobody was hurt or worse :/ n trust me, im with ya Jason, if it was one of mine, id belt them six ways to sunday then make them donate everything they own to the victims of the fire >:/ ive got a very low bs tolerance level, and stuff like that makes me see red

btw, sun activity usually runs in a cycle, the lot of activity we saw recently was the end of one cycle/beginning of the next. so it may have gone down from the last time of solar stability, even with the storms from time to time

the thing is, look into the oceanic conveyors. the polar caps melting are causing it to slow. if it stops, (the circulation regulates the oceans temps, drawing warm water from the equator up to the pole, and cool water toward the equator, like the flow of water in a small pool, its not easily noticed, but its there)the water at the arctic/antarctic superchills and freezes, far beyond the reular polar caps we know, kicking off a mini ice age. its actually one of the things that led me toward prepping. thats like morons in america saying that theres no global warming because theyre having severe winters. as the oceanic conveyors slow, (the water also warms and cools the air to a degree) the extremes become more violent than we had years ago. if they continue to slow, it will just get worse and worse.

oh and how about a couple of a tablet antihistamines? never know when the need for them will arise! spare roll of fishing line, packet of hooks and sinkers? hmmmmm..... what about one of those $30-ish solar chargers for phones etc? baby wipes/moist toilet wipes? cornstarch baby powder (good for any chafing/sweating and as a dry shampoo), plastic bags inc zip loc bags (more uses than i can count)just trying to think of things that would make life way more pleasant if youre on the move and the need for them arises....

some kind of high energy, long storage food, like museli/protien bars, good for eating while you n the fam are on the move :)and whats your plans as far as trapping if you cant hunt for a couple of days? snares are my personal pick, theyre cheap, and pack down to almost nothing, and at least can be used to feed the dogs if youre set for food

Principles of the Ninja Paddler: Efficiency & Style for Kayakers
prepping on a budget
survival guide for beginners
Practical Wilderness Skills And Thoughts On Survival
i think i will limit them to 5 per post just to make them easier for people to keep track of and of course, if you find any in your roamings, id be happy for you to add them too ^_^

as im still new to actual preparing (as opposed to worrying ceaslessly and feeling anxious because i was brought up as a homesteadder, but was thrown out of my element, am getting back into it now!), im sort of dabbling, as i buy what i can when i can, info is as crucial as actual goods, so im buying books on things like blacksmithing, have developed skills in sewing, crochet, amongst others. i have also started preserving and stockpiling and gathering survival supplies.

Are the Charcoal filtered bottles LIFESAVERS? as in brand? mine are bobble brand. they make a pretty big diff to the town water. though i doubt i would get the few hundred litres out of it with more contaminated water like pool water or river water. that said ive drunk more than my fair share of river water when on the farm. not a problem unless ppl have sprayed in the week or so prior imo. (yes that means ive drunk my fair share of unfilterd, diluted cows pee, cow poop, and undoubtably heaven knows what else, lmao, but it never made me sick, and i used to drink it by the litre straight from the hose)

ok, ill sort them by need so i dont double up or just make it all a mess, lol water- each of us have a charcoal filtered bottle for improving ok but funny tasting water (like pool water etc) a life straw, and steripen (planned) food- my sweetie and i are more than able to fish and hunt for meat, so thats not a huge concern to me - 2-3 meals each for tough times 2 snares (even if we have food they are good for catching the dogs dinner!) fishing gear and each of our weapons rice freeze dried fruits and veg a box of museli bars and a bag of lollies (good fast energy and morale boosters for the kids) solid fuel stove (back up plan to a fire pit) shelter/warmth- tent and tarp. failing that a traditional koori shelter! (eventually will upgrade to a camper trailer!) magnesium flint starter (that i picked up on special today!) led glow sticks from camping store (for light obviously, lol) sleeping bags security-as said, each of our weapons (my bow and eventually rifle, my sweethearts guns) 2 hand held cb's and a variety of h2h weapons one (this year to be two) good guard dog problem is, as i have littlies,(its far easier, safer and faster to carry my 3 year old in a carrier) i can only carry so much. and our first plan is bugging in anyhow, if we bug out, it will be together by car, and we wont be planning on coming home, so will be taking our seed bank, and supply of rice, bottles of water, first aid kit, fire extinguisher etc, lol and the funny thing is, nobody knows what i do and dont have bar my darling XD getting around like one of the zombies makes us far less of a target should the shtf imho
