as was asked by shtf preparedness on fb, "What would you do if you found someone digging a hole for or stashing gear on your property? IMO I would check it out and make sure that's what it was 1st...Then what? Do you leave it? remove it? if you remove it do you tell them you did? They are obviously preppers.. so do you leave a note saying you have it or you left if for that reason? Leave it and hope they will join with you when they come for it? Leave it and hope you get to it first if needed? Call the cops and report a trespasser?" i thought this would be quite a good topic for us all to weigh in on, especially as theres no real reason for anyone to get their panties in a bunch, lol XD for me, if they set alarm bells ringing, or wanted to store weapons on my property, it would be a outright no. for food and survival type items, absolutely, and would offer to trade preserves with them if they ever wanted (could make a new ally, without letting on that you prep too) what does everyone else think?

im not sure where everyone stands on the line of thought that perhaps the governments are indeed treating us like cattle, and have decided to thin the herd (aka eugenics) but several recent happenings are starting to make it look like a real possibility. pieces like the link below, combined with the governments denial of the radioactive leakage spreading and affecting the oceans, monsanto suing farmers for their crops being contaminated (yes, here in aus no less, google steve marsh), the contamination of peopples water near mine fields and fracking sites (which the government is saying is safe to drink mind you - no water that smells like oil and/or is flammable is safe!), google buying several companies that make war robots, drones etc, like the bigdog project.... its all adding up to something quite dark indeed monsantos bt cells kills embryo cells
gmo crops wiping out whole bee colonies
water contamination from fracking more common that the companies let on

ok, i might have a toughie for you, i have heard of fruits being preserved in honey, but have found a mix of "dont" and "do but"s, none of them seemed to approach waterbath canning, more along the lines of akin to fridge jams, you know what i mean? so, to put it simply, can you actually preserve fruits with honey if done correctly? (i figured if anyone knew it would be you Gaz!)

Wayne, having been admin for forums before (and believe me, hormonal women have nothing on this little argument lol), I would suggest that a set of forum rules be created. Like a code of conduct you'd have at a workplace with agreeing to abide by it a condition of membership to the forum. It might seem draconian or big-brotherish, but you could be legally liable if someone feels they are bullied here and, as owner/admin, you don't do anything about it, or have appropriate measures in place. It also lets members know what is expected from the start and what is considered 'crossing the line'.
On the board that I was admin for, prior to me starting, there was an instance of stalking, literally, personal details were obtained and the person being stalked had malicious phone calls etc. To protect yourself legally, and all members, I would strongly recommend a set of guidelines and also a documented process on how you will handle arguments that get out of hand, inappropriate posts (ie language, images, bullying tactic), what happens in a breach (and repeated breaches) (ie 1 day suspension from forum, total ban etc) and also ensure you are complying with Australia's Privacy Act 1988 and that your code of conduct/terms of use informs members of their obligations under that Act.
PM if you want some help - pretty sure I still have the doco we created, and as I'm a tech writer, I write that sort of stuff all the time, so happy to help out i personally think Beckles' idea is very good indeed. while it may be offensive to some, some structure and rules are proving to be needed (heaven forbid anyone actually gets to the point of harassment or stalking!), at least that way your tail is covered, and anyone who breaches the rules more than once or twice can be legally kicked.

couldnt agree more, the older gen has experience, and seriously useful skills and knowledge, younger gens often have fresh and different views on how things can be done. same with men and women. my bf can look at something thats cone cactus on the project car, try the way he was taught, it not work, i can come and say "oh, try this", done, lol, the more people and types work constructively and share knowledge, the better off we all will be

1. It’s okay – the government will step in and take care of everything. And I’m sure residents of New Jersey and New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf coast, West, Texas and other numerous areas of disaster can tell you the government swoops in and makes everything all better just after 24 hours, and everyone lives happily ever after (said no one ever). Not that the government doesn’t have the ability to come and help rescue, but they can’t possibly do it all, they can’t possibly do it quickly enough for your comfort, nor should you rely on someone else to take care of your family! You are responsible, to the best of your ability, to make sure they are as safe and sound as you can possibly get them. this is the most common one i hear. they are what i consider related to item 2, i call them zombies (well think, they need braaaiiiins )

sorry to be the one to nitpick, but how the frig do they think old civilizations (kooris, africans, native americans etc) made flour without modern technology? ffs, the old school way is far less likely to go to sh#t over time, and is easier to replace if and when it does, just takes a bit of elbow grease to do it!

yep, meat is pretty high on my stockpile lists as well! lol, look at us, little pack of carnivores XD hell, i need one good serve of meat a day or i get very fatigued and listless! a big part of my preps are for hunting too (my location isnt densely populated enough to be hunted sparse, and not everyone has guns, snares or knowhow, even fishing gear!) good part about being in the bush, lol XD im also storing packets of herbs, and spice mixes, they can make a big difference to a basic meal of meat, veg/foraged greens etc and rice pretty easy to justify in the shopping basket too, the bagged ones are pretty cheap
