Be careful with containers in fire Although fairly fire resistant several of our locals lost containers of stores as fire gets underneath them and burns up thru their wood floors I now block of the bases with gravel so no debris/ flames can get undet

An awesome opportunity to test your preps. between last years bushfires and now this, wife and family have a new respect for preparations Last week a neighbour took off his finger tips with a chain saw so the first aid/ trauma kit was very successful Prepping is very fashionable down here in Vic at the moment- the Facebook prep sites are full of new members

Amazing as a prepper these are the sort of scenario s you think qoukd happen Still when it does we are so shocked- but still ahead of the general population In health everyone is on edge- the calm before the storm Lotsa preparations but we know from overseas experience we will be overwhelmed and many will die

At a local medical meet last night the plateau peak of cases is expected to be 8to18 weeks from- pushed back as we are socially isolating Still going to be a lot of pain and we are looking at 6 months shutdown and a bankrupt economy in huge debt Italy’s lockdown is starting to cause social unrest As a prepper you always prepared for this but it’s still a shock when it happens This moment will enter the history books!

its amazing how many dressings u go thru for one wound We had several injuries in the 2019 Vic bushfires and first aid supplies were essential and u couldn’t get out due to road closures First aid supplies are like ammo- can never have enough😜😜😜 Any advice on what type of dressings, how many, and where is best to buy? 2020 is my year of working on my med preps, starting with a TCCC course in a few weeks. Keen to bulk up my stock of dressings and anything else you think necessary. I grab anything I can-clean linen will do but I get any dressings antiseptics etc I can- even expired stock Working in a hospital helps😜😩

What bothers me is the possibility of needing to provide wound care for my group and having nowhere near enough consumerables. I imagine you would go through them fairly quickly. I've got enough to last until we could access the hospital system, but what if that system was overwhelmed or collapsed? its amazing how many dressings u go thru for one wound We had several injuries in the 2019 Vic bushfires and first aid supplies were essential and u couldn’t get out due to road closures First aid supplies are like ammo- can never have enough😜😜😜

Interesting that food water fuel power is now a major topic in the fire news as people have none of these in the post fire stage and roads are still closed This is where I won big browny points with wife and neighbours👍😀😀😀for being a prepper The only one I’ve got to improve on is fuel storage- necessary post fire but a major issue during the fire

My two generators have never let me down. They are both Honda. Same here, my two gennies and water pump aka the important stuff all has honda engines. After our fire experience I’m throwing all my Chinese pumps in the dam and sticking with honda

Whole year seems to have revolved around our March bushfire Lost all fences few sheds and container full of preps Repairs will be on going for years The positives were my preps gait a whole new level of respect from wife and neighbours Food water first aid generator s and general equipment were vital in the following 2 weeks of no power and road blockades Fire preps also work well Haven’t bred any stock or done veggies this year as still repairing fences/ veggie area Our community was amazing and the resources/ skills and teamwork we put together was great Got to have stores on hand as when disaster strikes u won’t have time to tend crops raise livestock etc in the initial mayhem stages Was an amazing experience to live thru and my heart goes out to those experiencing it at the monent

Agree Many non prepper friends of mine are worried about fires ,China, big government etc etc Our bushfire experience cemented preparedness in our neighbourhood People are worried Climate change is often a topic but so led by leftist politically correct hippies that it’s hard to take them seriously

Good luck to those fire affected Very stressful time and the damage takes years to repair One of the main things we prep for My food and first aid stores and generator/fuels convinced a lot of people(inc wife😜) the value of preparedness

Where did you get the suits? I've been looking online and the one that had a price was about $400 Me too! There was a shop in Melbourne selling them after black Saturday, but has long closed down Think some safety shops have gear but not sure Protective gear is essential- balaclavas gloves goggles etc Ours was a slow fire so very defendable

We got the Vic bunyip fires in March Lost fences and sheds but house intact We were prepared- house cleared/ fire suits / fire sprinklers/ fire trailers/multiple pumps Fire bunker as last resort Neighbours and community were great- no power and roads closed for 2 weeks Don’t rely on anyone but yourself-our fire service didn’t help Good prepper experience- got the wife on side

Did A tacmed tccc and a wilderness first aid course Kats year Would recommend them Was it by Real Response? That's the organisation I'm looking at going with, at a paintball field in Milperra, Sydney. Also looking at the wilderness course but it's fairly expensive (not tax deductable for me). Tacmed ran a 5 day course in Melbourne- well run and lotsa cops/ ambos and a few industry type safety officers The wilderness first aid course was 4 days at mt Buller and run by rescuemed/ survive first aid—- it was great and based on a course started in the USA for medical/ nursing/ ambos who have to deal with outdoor issues(trauma bites burns hypo/ hyperthermia etc) It came with a textbook ( there is a wilderness medical society)and both courses were great Tax deductible and continuing education points There is a lot on YouTube on tccc and protocols are on line if you look up comtc ( committe for tactical trauma care)

No prepcon level for me either. I've almost finished the infrastructure building phase at my retreat and I'm turning my attention to reducing my skills deficit in a couple of areas, particularly medical skills. Looking seriously at a combat trauma course to be held later this year. Did A tacmed tccc and a wilderness first aid course Kats year Would recommend them
