My first couple of far lets were around64 and 73 acres. Now I have 12ish. Stock keep the gras down but you have to have a good balance as feeding stock is prohibitively high. All sizes need tending and you may get a good local to agist their stock so you make a little cash. My list of work requirements. In close to my order of time consumption. Stock- chickens and sheep Fire fuel clean up- particularly in spring Fences and driveways Trees- fruit and firewood Cups of tea on the porch to admire the work done.

Aptly timed. I have been a little on the slow side for a while. But as gasman said with a bit of land you are always doing something for food production. What amuses me about my behaviour is this is a time of serious events occurring almost everywhere and yet I watch with only passing interest. Is that because I am comfortable with my preps or burnout. I will have to ponder. The meet at Gasman’s made me realise I don’t have enough gille suits

Some speculation on very unlikely scenarios Is fun and helps you think of things that may help in situations that are likely and happen regularly. The supermarket is a good example. It is fairly agreed that in a shtf it is not a safe place. This may lead a beginner to realise and understand that even in a localised weather event it is not the place to be. Almost all reasonable conversation will help someone or add a smile to others. Help not hinder

An oldie and not really relevant but
Don't wrestle in the mud with pigs. You both get dirty but the pigs enjoy it.

I cannot agree more. it is great to have a big system of food production but it can be a lot of work for little gain. i am slowly making things easier for us as there is always that broken wing event just around the corner.

Mozzie, I too have "groomed" a couple we know. Other than them we haven't told friends or family. The last thing we need is a swarm of people arriving uninvited to pillage our resources. Add to that the fact that most people can't keep a secret at the best of times... I have a few people who would come to our place as they know there are food resources walking around with wool or feathers on them. For me it is the inability for secrets to stay secret. So it won't be who I tell that will be the problem. It will be who they tell and who they tell etc. etc.

I have a battery pack to start the car. I had to borrow gasman's Once and was so impressed I bought one for me and one for mum and dad. My wife's car has a 5 litre water bottle that is refreshed occasionally and three bags. One with commercial dried fruit and General prepper stuff and one each for us with clothes and runes socks etc. it does take up a bit of room and we do have to take it out sometimes but generally we could get home.

I cannot believe you left the can in the sun. That is very English. Apparently the cold beer hurts their teeth.

I preemptively put the cider vinegar into 24 day old chicks. 2 got pasty butt so far, so I am not sure of its efficacy. Although I picked off the mess and none have come back yet

I saw a doco where they showed in Scotland in past eras. They made a big batch of thick porridge and ate it though the day cold. Not very applealing but effective/efficient

I just lost 6 "day old" light Sussex to mushy chick syndrome. . Turns out I need to be better at incubator hygiene. I am going to get some apple cider vinegar into their water as soon as I get home if it helps with general health. Thanks

We have to jump through hoops toget a shipping container. And I live on 13 acres in a rural area. Waste of our oxygen giving it to elected officials and their ilk.

Lol frac. Always a good time to ramp things up as long as you dont take on a bunch of debt to do so. I've been really enjoying my IPSC training and would highly reccomend seeking out an IPSC club to go see what its all about, much more interesting than stationary target shooting. The club nearby does that IPSC training. The fees and requirements are heavy. But it does seem interesting. I am going to pay them a visit.

I have generally had an attitude of getting more serious and ramping it up as things change. Things that are really only a a pain to maintain or cost a lot of $$ are just a list that is slowly being worked through. My short lead slinger licence is on the list along with a s&w and I always maintain that we will have a warning prior to a serious non natural event. So in essence I think we have just had a first gentle warning in the US of A. My doomsday clock just ticked! Time to join a club and begin the licence/purchase process

Serious preppers shower one limb at a time and never stand in the shower cubicle. Super serious preppers don't shower ever, as the would have to take off the tactical gear.🤓
